Scavenger Hunt for Rochester Heroes!

Greentopia brings you a 2-week Summer Scavenger Hunt at area public libraries!

Did you know we are getting a State Park in High Falls?  We want our individual stories and history to be part of the design of this new Urban State Park.

Greentopia asked area artists to reinterpret  32 “Rochester Heroes,” an exhibit of pressboard historic figure silhouettes that Greentopia rescued when the City was closing the High Falls Visitor Center.

Some artists used the original character as a template for another more recent “Rochester Hero.” The Rochester Heroes and their artists will also appear in a book that will document the project. Still, you can participate in a hunt of Monroe County Libraries to find these “Rochester Heroes” and win a chance at a park t-shirt or a copy of the book!

Greentopia invites everyone to bid on these colorful heroes, but bidding will close on August 1st the night of our Reflections on the River gala event.

Each figure has a QR code that takes you to a brief synopsis of the artist and the history of the character they painted. You can bid on these figures and take home a colorful piece of Rochester history.

All proceeds go to support Greentopia’s Green Visions Workforce Development program and to close the gap in the costs of remodeling our new training center at 188 Whitney Street in Rochester, NY.
